Have you ever looked for a long time at a blank screen hoping for an article topic to pop into your mind?

4 top strategies for selecting article topics:

1. Choose a topic you are passionate about or are interested in.

If you try to write about something you are not familiar with you will have a difficult time creating the content for it.

2. Explore other resources

Once you have chosen an area to write about, visit online and offline locations where people visit who are also interested in those same topics. Online sources may include search engines, forums, blogs, article directories or join a discussion group.

Offline resources may include magazines (magazines.com), books (amazon.com), newspapers, journals and white papers.

After visiting some of these sources you will soon get an idea what to write about. Reading articles written by others will stimulate your writing juices. Everyone has there own unique writing style so don't copy anyone else's article. Uniquely written articles get read more often and rank higher in the search engines.

3. Keyword research

Before writing your article you need to research the keywords and keyword phrases people use to find information on that topic.

Use the free word tracker tool (freekeywords.wordtracker.com) to find the number of searches for that month.For example if you enter "dog grooming" in wordtracker it will display the top 100 keyword phrases out of 3,785 searches for that month.

4. Find related keywords

The Google adwords tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal) generates a list of related keywords. Enter each of these related keywords into wordtracker. You will now have hundreds of topics (and sub-topics) you can write about.

Tip

Whenever you think of a new topic, jot it down for future reference, then when you get stuck for a subject you can refer back to this paper. It will save hours of your time deciding what to write about. You can also develop many articles simultaneously because you have already done the necessary topic preparation. Now you will no longer have to sit in front of a blank screen with a blank mind when searching for article topics.

When I decided to make article marketing my sole form of advertising I ran into the same problem. At first I did not know how to come up with new articles, so I did some research. I read everything I could find on the subject.

The method that I use is not revolutionary or even new, but I will guarantee you one thing. It works. Here is how I come up with new articles.

Having the main topic I am going to write about firmly in mind, I break it down in to 10 sub-topics. Many times I come up with these sub-topics by visiting a forum where the main topic is being discussed.

This gives me insight into what information my potential readers may be discussing. If they are discussing it you can rest assured that they will read articles about it.

Once I have my list of 10 sub-topics I then break them down and come up with 10 bullet points for each.

Each of these bullet points actually becomes an article. So as you can see I have just given myself the basis for 100 articles.

I then sit down and start writing about each point. In no time it seems that I have finished these articles and I begin the process again.

No, its not flashy, not automated, nor even original but as I said it works. Give this method a try and I believe you will find it much easier to come up with new articles.

Your call to action has to leave the reader no choice but to click your link. Now, the sales page you are referring them to has to be good enough to close the deal and earn you some money.

Submit Your Article...

Submit your article to article directories such as GoArticles, ArticleAlley, SearchWrap, Wordpress and EzineArticles.

Co-Registration is a way of buying targeted subscribers and leads to your newsletter/ezine from a 3rd party service in bulk.

The leads are gathered by websites who are offering something in return from people opting in to that website's newsletter.

It basically involves having your subscription offer listed alongside other publications' offer, so that when someone signs up to the other newsletters, he or she is given the option of signing up for yours as well without needing to re-enter his or her personal information.

You should always make sure that you can get your email address as soon as possible (what else is better than instant?), as you want to start making money from them right away. The longer you wait, the more likely these addresses become outdated, the higher the chances of getting spam complaints.

I also recommend that you should use Co-Registration services and suppliers that use double opt-in to decrease the chance of spam complaints.

Another idea is to approach ezine publishers directly to see if they are interested in a Co-Registration agreement. You can arrange a deal with the publishers to put your newsletter offer on their registration "thank you page" and you put their offer on your thank you page. Just make sure that you are not in direct competition and only share a similar target market.

No matter which method you choose, just ensure that you are getting quality email addresses, and ensure that your offer is placed next to publications that share similar target market with you. The market is so slow and I don't even know where my next sale is coming from.

How often have you heard someone say that when business is down and the economy is questionable? It seems logical, doesn't it, to tighten your purse strings?

What! Are you suggesting that I should invest in my business now?

Even though it seems logical to tighten up and constrict spending, it is actually based on a scarcity mindset. In a scarcity mindset you focus on lack in your business, and on lack in outer conditions and the market.

The result is a constriction in the flow of energy to your business. In fact, when you focus your thoughts on lack in your business, you have a problem even before you begin. Hence, THE BIG MISTAKE.

Are you constricting the flow of energy to your business? Here are some signs to watch out for:

1. What are your thoughts?

  • I don't have enough clients
  • My competitors are stealing business
  • I can't succeed in today's market
  • Here's an example that contains a scarcity mindset:

    There are so many new agents entering the business there isn't enough business to go around. Maybe I should just get a real job.

    Have you ever had that thought?

    2. What emotions do you experience?

  • Fear
  • Stress
  • Struggle
  • Anxiety
  • Worry
  • Any of the thoughts above are likely to create the emotions of worry, fear and doubt.     Do you see how this is a scarcity mindset? What is the person missing out on? If you said self-care and self maintenance, then you are right. This is one of the actions that goes by the wayside when you're focusing on scarcity. You're simply afraid that you won't have enough so you ignore the importance of taking care of yourself.

    So what is the big mistake?

    The big mistake is that you are focusing your thoughts on outward circumstances, like the economy, to determine your mindset. If the economy is down you are down. Stephen Covey calls this the reactive mindset. You believe that you are acted upon, rather than being proactive and there is a constriction of energy to your business.

    When you are proactive, you don't focus on what the economy or the market is doing, you are coming from an internal state of prosperity consciousness. You don't look to outer conditions to determine your state of mind, you determine your own state of mind by your thoughts, emotions and actions. In essence you create the mindset of being the deliberate creator of your life.

    The solution:

    If the mindset is the problem, then how do you switch to a more positive mindset?

    1. Commit to building a prosperity mindset

    A prosperity mindset is not something you are born with, it's not in your genes; its something that you develop through practice. Think of it as a muscle that you exercise. The more you exercise it, the stronger that muscle becomes.

    It's the same with prosperity mindset. Successful people have one thing in common they believe in their own success and their ability to attract money into their life. They look for opportunities and find them... everywhere. Why? Because they had an internal prosperity consciousness and they focused on that state of looking at external conditions.

    2. Adopt the beliefs of success

    It's easy to adopt a successful mindset - it's just a shift in focus from scarcity to prosperity. The way you make that shift is to have a set of beliefs that are congruent and prosperous thinking. For example, Walt Disney once said, All of our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them.

    Here are the beliefs of successful people:

  • Change is to be embraced because it represents more opportunity for growth and expansion.
  • Determine what you want, and assume you'll get it. Don't worry about the how.
  • There is an answer and solution to every challenge.
  • Discomfort is part of charting the unknown.
  • Obstacles will not stop them from attaining what they want.
  • Money needs to flow in order to grow.
  • You'll notice that if you practice the beliefs above, you will experience positive emotions that expand the flow of energy to your business.

    3. Be clear on what you want

    How can the universe give you what you want unless you are clear about what you want? A challenge for you here is to break the want barrier. Accept the fact that it is not only appropriate and proper, but critical, for you to want anything, of any kind, to any degree.

    The main thing is to be clear about what you want for your business. I hear too many people saying, I want to be successful without even knowing what success means to them. I suggest visualizing your ideal professional life in 12 months from today. See yourself doing work you love and noticing approximately how many hours a week you're working. Ask yourself what kind of people you want to be interacting with. Who are your ideal clients? Are they motivated, decisive and respectful of you and your service to them? What is your income in 12 months from today? How much are you making per year or per month?

    4. Clear away any opposing beliefs

    When you think about your ideal professional life, what beliefs do have that are opposing your vision? Here are some beliefs that I hear on a continual basis when people are honest with me about discussing their blocks to success:

    I like doing my work, I'm just not good at marketing. (Remember, it's only a belief)

    I'm really not smart enough or energetic enough to achieve what I want. (Remember, it's only a belief)

    The real estate market is so tough right now that I can't possibly make the income I was hoping for. (Remember, it's only a belief)

    5. Take inspired action not frantic action

    What kind of action are you taking? Are you taking action because you're afraid? If you are, your action may be frantic action rather than inspired action.

    What is inspired action? Inspired action comes from your intuition and listening to your gut instincts. You follow your heart, you follow your hunches; you don't wait for someone to hand you a formula because there is none.

    You will know if youre taking inspired action by the way you feel by the results you are getting. Youll be feeling relaxed and confident and the results that you will be getting will be one or more of the following:

  • Increased clientele
  • Increased income
  • Increased passion for your work
  • As a review, remember to avoid THE BIG MISTAKE by being conscious of what you focus on.

    Dont let the outer conditions determine your mindset. Keep a mindset of prosperity and practice the beliefs of successful people. Keep remembering to expand the flow of energy to your business, whatever the market is doing.

    Ten SEO Tips to Get You Higher Yahoo and Google Listings

    SEO tips can help you to get higher Yahoo or Google listings, but only if you use them. Most people think that they know better, even so called SEO professionals who have to use PPC advertising to get their websites listed highly enough to be seen. Who are they to tell us what to do, when they cannot it themselves?

    I have had some of them write to me criticizing my crap HTML and also my useless linking strategies. My site has only a Page Rank of 3. So what? It is sitting at between #1 on #5 on Google from day to day, at # 1 to #4 on Yahoo from day to day and at #1 on MSN. I will gladly accept their criticism of my HTML and linking when they achieve the same. Till then, perhaps they would be better buying my book that complaining about my websites!

    I would feel more predisposed to them if they stopped criticizing me I only started to do the same to them when I got sick of their comments when they could not emulate my results. Who am I, a rank amateur, to beat them in the SEO stakes!! In fact, I have been at this for many years.

    So, SEO tip #1 dont believe anything you are told unless those telling you it have at least one of their websites in the top 5 on all the major search engines for a competitive keyword. Mine has >800 million other results on Google.

    Tip 2 use classical search engine optimization. Use Meta tags because some search engines still use them. The main one is the Description Meta tag Keywords is not so important but use it anyway. It does not hurt you, so use them.

    The third tip relates to the title of your website. There are two points that relate to this. The first is that it should be the best keyword that you can find that relates to your niche or website. That means a good demand and low supply, though too much is sometimes written about this since such keywords are not easy to find. If you cant something with low supply, just use what you want and decide to compete against them. Somebody has to be top, and why cant it be you? Too many people give up in SEO too quickly. Probably because we are told not to compete against the big boys - by these big boys!!

    The second point is that the title of your site need not be stated on every web page. My web page titles are those of the page, not the site. The graphics are the same, but the title is the keyword that they page is optimized for. Why do otherwise? Yet 99.99% do (just a guess!). Then fourth of my SEO tips is related to the headings on each page. The main title of the page should be in H1 tags, and the heading in H2 tags. You dont need any more, but any subheadings can go into H3 tags, but should contain text that could be construed as minor keywords.

    I might be wrong, but who says? I have found that if you ignore the big guys, and compete against them, they can be beat. Check out what they are trying to sell you and you will notice that much of it is obsolete. Such as site generation and article generation software. Thats not an SEO tip, just a word to the wise, from the not so wise. I have no pretensions, but I know where my home page is on Google and Yahoo and MSN. Just search for article services.

    The fifth SEO tip is to use your keywords sparingly. Most people still think that 1% - 3% keyword density is ideal, yet it is actually too much. There is an optimum keyword density that has little to do with the keyword itself, but more to do with contextual relevance of the page content to the topic in hand. Which leads to the sixth of the SEO tips: write naturally and honestly. If you know about your subject, write about it in your own language and dont try to meet any perceived need for a specific number of so-called keywords within your page content.

    Seventh, dont forget about your links. You can get a higher search engine listing if you have lots of links back to your website from other sites. In fact, the links are from page to page, and you get a proportion of the Google PageRank of the page linking to you, relative to the number of other links leaving that page, and also give the page that you link to a proportion of your PageRank, calculated in the same way. The problem with reciprocal links is that most pages are linked to and from pages with a PageRank of zero, even though the website home page can have a PR of 6 or 7.

    SEO tip eight. Use your internal linking to maximise the PageRank of a selected page on your website. You dont need every page on your site listed in the top 10 of Google or Yahoo: you only need one. So maximise your efforts on that one page. Visitors that page will then visit the rest of the pages on your website, and so will search engine spiders, so you know that every page on your site will be listed and with a chance of being found in a search.

    The important point of that tip is to concentrate on getting one page in the top 10. Thats all you need. You will have links to all your other pages once somebody reaches that page in the top 10. Tip nine: Once you get visitors keep them there. Give them useful content and something to do, even if just to click from page to page. Offer them a free gift for completing a quiz on your topic, or free vacation certificates for certain actions: these are easily found on the internet in a form that you can either post or email for them to print their own. Offer them an opt-in form so that you can keep in touch.

    That is the most important tip of all if you can keep in touch with your visitors after they have left your site, then you can offer them new products as they come along without having to seduce them to visit your website again.

    Finally, the SEO tip number 10. Enjoy what you are doing, and dont look upon it so much as a job as something to enjoy, and to do as best as you can. I wish you the best of success since it is very sweet when it comes as it will come with you.

    All of these are reasons why the cheapest place to buy milk is at the convenience store because the owners can rely on up-selling you to the gallon size and cross-selling you to the cookies!

    The concept is the same on your web site. The goal is to get visitors to come into your online store. You make it easy and attractive for them to do so. You also make sure you have a wide selection of related products to up-sell and cross-sell.     Increasing website traffic is the name of the game on the internet. It's important to note, however that there is no one thing that can bring instant traffic or ongoing sales. It's a combination of strategies that promote contact and networking.

    Not all strategies work for everyone, so it's important to know what the options are, utilize a few that look appealing and stick with what works for you.

    Here's a few tips and strategies that have worked for me. Give them all a try or perhaps just one. Any or all can make a healthy difference:

    1. Write A Press Release

    A press release is not a sales pitch and sales hype is not allowed. It is, however, your chance to provide your business story which can be a powerful form of marketing. When writing your press release you'll want to provide the who, what, where, when, how and why of your business. Create interest by detailing who you are, what you are about, why you went into business, but more importantly, how your customers have benefited.

    An effective press release can create a newsworthy story that is capable of creating buzz and interest all across the web for a long time to come.

    2. Create A Blog

    Whether you have a website or not, a blog is an ideal tool for giving you and/or your business a favorable presence.

    Think of a blog as a diary. Create your blog by posting your products and information. Then on a daily or weekly basis add additional products, information or comments. Invite comments from others and before you know it you'll have a steady stream of visitors.

    It's not rocket science. You simply need to write a compelling ad, research relevant keywords and understand your return on investment. This means that if your product earns you $20 per sale then you must pay no more than 20 cents per keyword, preferably less. For example, on average, your ad will bring in one sale per 100 clicks on that ad. If 100 clicks brings one $20 sale then you've just paid $20 for that ad (100 x .20) and you broke even. Therefore, your goal should be to pay less than 20 cents per keyword but no more. Finding relevant, less popular keywords is goal.

    Of course, the better the ad and the better your website's sales copy performs, the more sales you will receive.

    Don't put this one off. The internet is designed to deliver information and what better way for you to get the word out about you, your business and your expertise than by providing relevant, useful information. If you're selling scrapbooks, write an article on how to scrapbook. A well written article can show someone how easy scrapbooking is, boost their interest and therefore encourage a sale.

    If writing an article is not something you feel you can do, have it written for you, it's not expensive and it's one of the best ways to bring traffic to your site.
